Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of the Blockworks Columbia Concrete and Masonry website and any estimate or work you get from us. By using the site, starting from our home page, or by asking us for an estimate, you agree to them.

If you sign a written estimate or contract with us, that document controls the job. Where it says something different from these terms, the signed document wins.

What we do

Blockworks Columbia Concrete and Masonry is a masonry contractor in Columbia, MO, doing brick, block, stone and concrete work for homeowners in Columbia and the cities around it. You can read more about our crew on the about page.

What you read on this site is general information about the trade and how we usually work. It isn't advice for your specific house, because no one can know what a wall, chimney or foundation needs until it has been looked at in person.

Estimates and pricing

We give free quotes on site, and asking for one puts you under no obligation. Your estimate is based on what we can see and measure on the day we come out.

Masonry and concrete work sometimes turns up problems that were hidden, like rotted framing behind brick, bad soil under a slab or a damaged flue inside a chimney. If that happens, we stop, show you what we found and agree with you in writing on any added work and cost before we go ahead.

An estimate stays good for the period written on it. After that, material prices and our schedule may have changed, so we may need to update it.

Scheduling and cancellation

We give you a start date when you accept the estimate, but weather, material deliveries and curing time can move it. Mortar and concrete need the right temperature and dry conditions to set properly, so we won't pour or lay in weather that would hurt the work, and we'll tell you as soon as a date has to shift.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, let us know as early as you can. Your written agreement sets out any cancellation terms, and if we've already ordered materials made or cut for your job, you may owe for those.

We need clear access to the work area on the scheduled days. Please tell us ahead of time about anything we should know, such as buried lines, sprinkler heads, pets or parts of the yard to keep off.

Payment terms

Payment is due as set out in your written estimate or contract, including any deposit and the timing of the final payment. We'll go over those terms with you before work starts so nothing comes as a surprise.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's made. Unpaid balances remain owed, and we keep any rights Missouri law gives contractors to collect for work and materials supplied.

Our guarantee and what it doesn't cover

Satisfaction guaranteed. If something about our work isn't right, call us and we'll come back and make it right. Any specific written warranty for your job will be stated in your estimate or contract.

Our guarantee doesn't cover normal changes in masonry and concrete over time, such as small hairline cracks, color variation in brick, stone or mortar, or efflorescence, the white powder that can form on masonry as moisture dries out. It also doesn't cover damage from ground settling or soil movement beyond our work, freeze and thaw, flooding, misuse, de-icing salts, or repairs and changes made by someone else.

This website and its content are provided as is. We try to keep it accurate, but we don't promise it is complete, current or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the extent Missouri law allows, Blockworks Columbia Concrete and Masonry is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your property or other costs that follow from a delay or a problem with the work. Our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

We are licensed and insured, and nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Settling disagreements

If you're unhappy with anything, please talk to us first, because most problems on a job can be sorted out on site. If we can't agree that way, we'll both try mediation in good faith before either of us goes to court.

Any lawsuit about these terms or our work will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Columbia, Missouri.

Governing law

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time and will post the new version on this page. A change won't affect an estimate or contract you've already signed unless we both agree to it in writing.
